Lipi is a template for Astro, built for writers who care about how their words look on the page. It is not a general-purpose blog theme, and it is not trying to be. It is a publishing environment for essays, travel notes, developer journals, and personal archives: the kind of writing that benefits from a considered layout and a quiet interface.
Lipi’s visual design draws inspiration from the Kami design language: warm neutrals, a constrained measure, generous spacing, and an interface that stays out of the way. The type is set in Literata, a serif face designed for reading at length. The layout holds under Cmd+P. The output is static HTML with minimal JavaScript.
The Localhost Studio↗
The Localhost Studio is a small independent studio building thoughtful tools for writers and publishers. We work at the intersection of typography, publishing, and the web, with a preference for things that are made carefully and maintained honestly.
Lipi began as a personal template, became a design exploration, and eventually became something we thought was worth sharing. The inspiration from Kami runs through everything we make: the same warmth, the same restraint, the same conviction that the content should come first.
If you are building something with Lipi, or if you have a question about the design, you can find us at The Localhost Studio or through the links in the footer.
